Dr. Gioscia's Professional Background Dr. Gioscia began his professional career in 1992 after completing a vascular fellowship following his five year surgery residency. He graduated St. John's University as the class Valedictorian prior to entering medical school and surgical training. It was during his fellowship when Dr. Gioscia recognized the broad impact that vein disorders have on the population causing both medical and cosmetic issues. His keen interest in this field led him to seek additional training by one of the pioneers in the field of phlebology (veins), Dr. Mitchel Goldman. This foundation became the basis and focus of Dr. Gioscia's clinical career. In 2008, in recognition of the need for a subspecialty dedicated solely to vein disorders, the American Board of Phlebology was created. Dr. Gioscia was among the first group of 250 physicians in the United States certified (FACPh) in this field. Now, after 20 years of private practice and after performing thousands of procedures, Dr. Gioscia continues to provide the most advanced, proven, and safe techniques in his field. His background as a Founding Member of the Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery qualifies him as an expert in applying new technologies which are safe and effective. Venous Doppler, Radiofrequency Ablatation (VNUS Closure), Sclerotherapy, and Laser are all state-of-the-art standards of care employed in his office-based practice. Unlike many vein treatment centers, Dr. Gioscia is intimately involved with all aspects of care. It is with this attention to educate the patient with all options-preventative and definitive-that allows a trusting relationship to develop as evidenced by so many referrals coming from patients themselves. For more detailed information on Dr. Gioscia's credentials and background, please refer to the Curriculum Vitae section on this site.
